2003 French Internationals (part 3).

There were some remarkable and outstanding performances!

Although the vintage of Bercy 2003 was characterised by routines of increasing dexterity, certain elements held our undivided attention.

-The Queen Svetlana Khorkina, who never stops innovating, dismounted from the beam with an Auerbach (cartwheel onto one foot ) into a triple twist!

-There was a triple twist from Elena Gomez too, in her case as a dismount from bars!

-Diane Dos Santos, who seems to have springs beneath her feet, dismounted from beam with a double front somersault.

-Oxana Chusovitina of Uzbekistan performed a double straight with scissored legs in the first salto - shades of her former team-mate Tatiana Gutsu who performed the same move in the Olympics of 1992!

-The audience was astounded by the extreme difficulty of the Arabian punch front on beam performed by Emilie Lepennec and Diane Dos Santos.

-The vaults performed by Coralie Chacon (the double twisting Tsukahara and the handspring one and a half twists), even though not totally new in themselves, are some of the hardest vaults to master.
Well done, Coralie!

-The backflip followed by full twisting tuck back, shown on beam by Oana Ban, was performed with such amplitude that she could even add a further half-twist! (something she apparently is working on in training).
